There used to be more wolves in quantity and diversity in the past.
The now-extinct dire wolf that was common in North America may not have been wolves.
The outdated "Alpha Wolf" term actually refers to the parents of the pack.
Wolves are family animals. Once they find a partner, they won't need anyone else.
We have doomed the wolf not for what it is, but for what we deliberately and mistakenly perceive it to
be –the mythologized epitome of a savage ruthless killer – which is, in reality, no more than a
reflected image of ourself.
